Dr. Sussanna Czeranko, ND
Naturopathic Doctor, Artist, and Co-Founder of Manitou Waters
Sussanna is the Co-Founder and Nature Care Leader at Manitou Waters. She graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1994 and has been in private practice since.
She recognizes the importance of taking the time needed to fully understand every patient’s health concerns and the impact of their ailments on their lives. Incorporating modern medical diagnostic methodologies and naturopathic assessment approaches are critical to her goal of achieving an accurate understanding of what needs to change in each patient’s life for optimal health.
The tools she brings to her naturopathic practice include dietary counseling using food and nutritional supplementation, herbal medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, exercise, and modification to harmful lifestyle habits. Manitou Waters specializes in European healing practices such as mud baths and wraps, specialized baths using herbal preparations, seaweed, and minerals. Each patient receives a personalized treatment plan to restore their health and bring vitality back to their life.
Sussanna is a lifelong learner. In addition to regular continuing medical education in a wide range of health disciplines supporting naturopathic practice, she is certified in Buteyko Breathing Therapy (UK) to help patients with sleep apnea and respiratory disorders such as asthma and dyspnea. Her interest in earth therapies such as peat peloids has taken her to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, and France to develop skills which complement naturopathic therapeutic modalities. She has studied balneotherapy with medical doctors from around the world and is a member of the International Society of Medical Hydrology (ISMH). Having studied the research in balneotherapy first hand, she has witnessed remarkable clinical success stories.
She is an author of 12 books (The Hevert Collection) based upon the historical literature and roots of naturopathic medicine and over 150 articles and is a teacher of traditional naturopathic medicine. Sussanna is a frequent speaker at medical conferences in North America and Europe. She is Co-Founder of the International Congress of Naturopathic Medicine.
Sussanna has been fascinated with fabric and colour for a long time. About 35 years ago, she discovered felting which has a way of exploding your creative potential. Whether you learn how to make a pair of amazing slippers that will fit your feet perfectly or you design a one-of-a-kind purse, your mind-body-spirit will dance in the doing. Doll making is another passion that Sussanna brings to life with participants who want to explore the power of expression. The healing that comes when making a doll from a place of deep purpose and intention results in a transformative release from hindering and obstructive emotional baggage.

Dr. Lauren Russell, ND
Lauren is a licensed naturopathic doctor, having completed her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in British Columbia. Prior to this, Lauren earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Saskatchewan in International Development, an interdisciplinary program with a focus on public health. This instilled in her a critical lens and understanding that our health is intrinsically connected to the health of our environment. It was in this context that Lauren chose to become a naturopathic doctor and contribute to a resilient and prevention-based health care system.
Lauren’s naturopathic practice supports the natural healing process of the body. She believes in sharing knowledge with each of her patients, so that they can make informed choices about their bodies and health. Lauren’s practice offers minimally invasive tools to address physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Every treatment protocol is individualized and may include nutrition, herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, acupuncture, and craniosacral bodywork. Most importantly, Lauren’s patients are given a space to be heard, affirmed, and connected to the healing heart of nature.
Lauren is delighted to be working with Sussanna and David in beautiful Manitou Beach and gratefully acknowledges the honour of living, studying, and working on Treaty 6 territory, and the homeland of the Métis.
